Lumina Privacy Policy
This Policy explains what data Lumina collects, how we use it, and the choices you have when using the Lumina apps, website, AI features, and subscriptions.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use Lumina.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, information collected automatically, data processed through AI features, and data handled by trusted third-party services.
- 1.1 Information you provide: notes, journal entries, reflections, account details (email, name, credentials), preferences, language, and content submitted to AI features.
- 1.2 Automatically collected information: device info (model, OS, app version), IP address, locale, time zone, app usage events (buttons, screens), crash logs, diagnostics.
- 1.3 Data processed through AI features: when you use summaries, chat, or AI tools, your content may be processed by providers such as OpenAI; we do not use your data to train external models unless a provider requires it and we disclose that requirement.
- 1.4 Third-party services: Lumina relies on cloud storage, analytics tools, payment processors (App Store / Google Play), and AI infrastructure that process data on our behalf.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information to provide and improve the app, generate AI responses and personalized insights, sync and store journal data, maintain security and prevent abuse, process subscriptions and payments, and comply with legal obligations. We never sell personal data.
3. How Your Data Is Shared
We only share data when necessary with service providers (cloud hosting, analytics, backup, payment processors, AI model providers), when legally required, or when you explicitly consent (for example when exporting or sharing content). We do not share data for advertising.
4. Data Storage & Retention
Journal content is stored securely in encrypted databases. We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 9).
5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Lumina is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child used the service without permission, contact us and we will delete the account.
6. International Data Transfers (GDPR)
Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries. By using Lumina you consent to transfers outside your country where protections may differ; we rely on appropriate safeguards when required.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your region (EU/UK/California and others) you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Contact privacy@lumina.app to exercise these rights.
9. Data Deletion & Account Closure
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. We will delete or anonymize data within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law.
10. Third-Party Links
Lumina may contain links to external sites; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy over time. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Policy.
